What Is Our Mission?

We provide funding and logistical support to ensure Southerners receive safe and compassionate reproductive care including abortion services. Through education and leadership development, we build power in communities of color to abolish stigma and restore dignity and justice.

Our Vision:

We envision a world where all Southerners have full access to care and support around their reproductive health decisions without biases or barriers.

The South operates as the heart of political unrest in the United States. This is because of the long legacy of both resistance and oppression across the region. The ‘Black Belt South’ has a long and complex history that has shaped the area into the region with the most restrictive abortion bans in the nation, a reproductive health desert. For this reason, we provide services and support to the Southeast regardless of one’s race, religion, or creed.

At the center of our values is a firm belief in autonomy and self-determination: your right to make decisions about your body, your care, and your future without interference from external influences. We act out of radical love, meaning we are intentional about everything we do and work without judgment.

We uplift our community by remaining steadfast in our values. These values are the result of a collaborative process among our staff, tapping into our collective struggle for a Southeast that is liberated from reproductive oppression, bodily control, and unjust marginalization.

Autonomy and Self-Determination

It’s all about YOU. Once equipped with knowledge and resources, we trust and support Southerners to make the best possible decisions to thrive, including abortion as healthcare and a human right. We know how vital it is to reduce harm from the state, so we prioritize autonomy and self-determination to help our communities live without shame, fear, lack of resources, or discrimination.

Radical Love

Without radical love, there is no liberation. Radical love is an intentional and consistent practice of non-judgmental, holistic, and revolutionary care and support. We unapologetically meet you where you are regardless of who you are, working with you, bringing our whole selves. We are intertwined, rooted together with our communities and the Reproductive Justice movement.

Building Southern Power

We are Southerners supporting Southerners. Abortion bans and discrimination are concentrated in the South, and we fully recognize the South as a powerful and historic home to Black, Indigenous, and Queer communities seeking self-determination. We build on the collective power of the South to establish communities of care, organize for collective liberation, and stand in solidarity from the local South to the Global South. Nothing about us, without us!

Community Accountability

We are working WITH you. Our alignment is with the needs of the community and not the state. We hold ourselves accountable through honesty, transparency, feedback channels and informed consent. With the understanding that all of our efforts (personal and collective) will have an impact on our communities, we are intentional about our internal practices and transparent in sharing how we carry out our work.

– Eliminate the economic barriers limiting one’s access to reproductive care by providing financial and logistical assistance to those who meet the organizational guidelines for support.

– Build and encourage community involvement in the movement for reproductive justice in the South by facilitating intersectional dialogue and analysis among communities.

– Advance equitable rights in reproductive decision-making through public advocacy and education.

– Increase physical access to healthcare providers and reproductive care by maintaining positive relationships with other funds and reproductive justice organizations in the South.
